Jews in the German and Austrian Armed Forces 1914 -1945

The main aim of this thesis is to introduce the development of the Jewish ethnic group within German language area, also to map and describe their involvement in both world wars in which their representatives had fought, first in the armies of central powers, and later in the army of the Third Reich. Besides chronology of war occurrences, there is a description of structural development of the German and Austrian armed forces with regard to the Jewish ethnic group of both countries and their performance of military service from the moment of introduction of general compulsory military service until the German capitulation in May 1945. This work gives a very detailed description of census of the Jews in German army that began on 1st November 1916 and also of its political consequences in post-war years. In the context of the Third Reich and the German Jews development, the complex of Nazi discriminatory legal standards and their link to the German military power are introduced and described here. This thesis also contains short personal stories of chosen Jewish war veterans of the first and Second World War that are complemented with a lot of personal information obtained mostly from military archives. Vimperk in 1938 - 1945

The aim of this diploma thesis is to introduce Vimperk between the years 1938 and 1945. The work is based on the study of the archival documents in the relevant archives in the Czech Republic and on the articles in the regional volumes. The first part of this work contains the literature and archival sources used in this work. The introduction of the history of the town until 1938 and the World War II follows. These are supplemented with the basic pieces of information about the history of World War II. Without that it would not be possible to set this small town into a wider context. The main part of this work is to elaborate the way of life in Vimperk during these years, which is mostly based on the study of the archival documents. The majority of people in this area were Germans. In 1938 was the area called "Sudetenland" anexed to the Hitler's Germany. Then followed the World War II and the men from this region had to join the German army, many of them didn't survive until the end of the war. The conditions of life of the civilians got worse with the time. In the end of the war there were also thousands of refugees, who also needed help. The view of Czech students on issues of forced labour

The aim of this master's thesis is to ascertain knowledge of Czech students in secondary schools, or more precisely in Grammar school, about the issue of forced labour during World War II. The master's thesis is based primarily on literature and own research and is divided into two parts. The first part is the theoretical part where is briefly introduced the history of forced labour in the general level (definition, type of work, working conditions, division of workers, etc.) and the second part where is conduct social research which is oriented only to Czech students. This research is conducted through a questionnaire survey that has the form of mixed research (questions and its evaluation is both quantitative and qualitative). Based on this research is evaluated both the overall state of knowledge of this issue (it compares the first-years students and fourth -years students of secondary schools), and is also taken account of the issue of the topic processing in secondary school textbooks.
WE SURVIVED. THE FATE OF FORCED WORKERS DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to approach to the life of forced workers, who were involuntarily recruited to work for The German Empire during the Second World War. This thesis has two parts. The first one is theoretical where you can find the accurate information from specialized literature. This information specifies particular characteristics of forced labour. It describes the method of oral history, dividing of forced workers, division of their recruitment and mainly their life conditions in time of forced labour. The second part of this thesis includes contemporary witnesses´ interviews collected by the oral history method. In this part of work there are compared the individual life stories. Furthermore, the obtained information are compared between the contemporary witnesses and bibliography.
